What are Rainbow Bytes?
Rainbow Bytes are characters that live online! They are a semi-closed species: anyone can design a Byte, but they must be approved to be considered one. All approved Bytes are listed on the site. Each one gets a unique tag with a code, kept secret by the owner (unless a Byte is sold, in which case the new owner must get the Byte re-approved and be given a new code).
How to design a Byte? What makes them special?
Every Byte must have these characteristics:
- no pupils
- large irises with gradient colors
- a charging port somewhere on the body (usually the bottom of the foot or back; no NSFW positions)
- colorful but not neon, somewhere close to pastel
- + no natural colors
- no animals that currently exist in the real world (Bytes can be extinct animals or mythical animals, or a hybrid of an extant animal with one of those)
preferably drawn in a pixel art style or given pixel-y details here and there [picture here]
+ no internal organs, though they can eat digital food
+ no more than 3 accessories to keep designs simple
+ two Rainbow Bytes cannot have the same name
Every Byte must come with a charging cable, a box, and a unique ownership tag. They also need a name, pronouns, and personality. Once you are done designing the Byte, go to the website to have it approved. Do not post a Rainbow Byte until it is an approved design. It should take less than 24 hours. Codes are issued by me. Do not generate your own code. Approved designs and their owners are listed on the website. You can own as many Bytes as you like.
Bytes can wear up to three accessories. Accessories can be jewelry, collars, shirts, glasses, etc. Bytes do not wear pants or skirts! Accessibility items like wheelchairs and hearing aids do not count towards the accessory limit.
Bytes can have physical forms like suits and figurines, but they are copies of the Byte. Bytes only exist online. Example: Rosie [picture here]. Their physical copies do not need charging ports, cables, boxes, or a pixelized style.
While all seven of the original Rainbow Bytes have names starting with the letter R, it is not necessary to name your Byte this way. The only requirement for naming Bytes is that their name is no more than 2 syllables.
